Back in April Microsoft attempted to clear out Lumia 950/950 XL inventory with a BOGO offer. Windows Central posted the news that Microsoft slashed the prices on both Lumias while throwing in a free Microsoft Display Dock.
The larger Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is priced at $449, $200 off standard pricing, with the Display Dock included. The Display Dock is a $99 accessory for the Lumia devices. The Lumia 950 is priced at $399, which is a $150 less than regular price.
The Lumia 950 and 950 XL phones are solid devices, check out my full review, that have arguably one of the best cameras available on a smartphone today. Apps continue to make their way to Windows 10 Mobile, Starbucks just launched, and more people are discovering that the core operating system functionality may be more important than having hundreds of apps that rarely get used.
The Lumia 950/950 XL continue to be actively supported with updates improving functionality since the devices first launched. The most recent update brought back double tap to wake, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity improvements, and improvements in the camera performance.
I returned my Lumia 950 XL after suffering several stability issues, but these significant price drops have me considering one again. However, I think I’ll continue to be patient and wait to see what Microsoft reveals this fall as the long-rumored “Surface Phone” may finally make its appearance.
