The display is one of the most important parts of a smartphone, and if you want the best display, then buy one of the newest Samsung Galaxy phones. Actually, if you want the best of the best, then purchase a new Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Last year, DisplayMate tested and found that the Galaxy Note 5 had the best smartphone display ever, and then just six months later, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge took that crown from the Note 5.

You might think at this point that innovation in display technology had peaked, but then you would be wrong. As detailed in the latest testing from DisplayMate, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 offers an even better display than the S7 and S7 Edge. There seems to be no limit to Samsung’s display innovation.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 brings several new features to its leading display technology, including:

  • DCI-P3 color gamut and digital cinema mode
  • HDR (high dynamic range) video mode and video enhancer
  • Peak brightness of over 1,000 nits
  • Front and back ambient light sensors
  • Blue light filter
  • Curved Gorilla Glass 5

Samsung continues what it started with the S7 Edge, with a curved OLED display manufactured on a flexible plastic substrate. The display has a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution with 518 pixels per inch.

Ultra HD 4K content is no problem on the Galaxy Note 7, and I can’t wait to enjoy movies and TV shows during my commute and business trips. The dual ambient light sensor is an interesting idea and should help the Note 7 provide a better automatic display brightness experience.

Apple’s iOS 10 introduced Night Shift to the iPhone, but we now see Samsung integrating a blue light filter in the display to offer a better low-light experience for those who use their phones right before going to sleep.
